‘Be SAFER’ Manual Handling Training Programs

Most occupations in most industries involve using manual handling to complete a task.  Manual tasks cover a wide range of activities that involve using your body to move handle an object including unpacking boxes, working in an assembly line and even working consistently on a computer. Manual handling tasks are most prevalent in occupations within the manufacturing and construction industries, which account for 32% of ACC work-related claims. Claims resulting from common manual handling movements such as twisting, lifting, carrying, strain, pushing and pulling accounted for 27% of all active ACC claims in the 15/16FY.

In aiming to minimize the risks and incidences caused that can be attributed to hazardous manual handling, Bodycare offers educational initiatives such as ‘Think Risk’ to assist companies in preventing and managing injuries in the workplace. The structure of each program is tailored to the individual needs of the company, after a review of the particular working conditions and the nature of injuries suffered by workers.

The training programs are an essential tool in providing all workers with the necessary education and skills to undertake safe manual handling practices in the workplace. The focus of this training package is to be interactive and engaging in order to maximize understanding and empower employees to apply these ideas on an ongoing basis in their day to day jobs, as well as helping to remove the negative stigma associated with manual handling training.

All training is conducted by an experienced Bodycare Injury Prevention Specialist with extensive knowledge of workplace environments.
